Pro-Action Member of 2018 - Fixation Theatre Company

Laura Davitt Fixation Theatre Company

Laura Davitt, Fixation Theatre Company at Pro-Action Awards Evening 2018.

'Fixation is located in an area of high deprivation, working with young people who have complex issues by providing a creative outlet for them.'

A Fixture in the Community:

Fixation Theatre Company is a community devising theatre company located in Borehamwood. It was formed in 2012 as an artistic company of trained performing arts professionals and youth workers, teaching young people skills in drama, singing, dance and film.

They are one of Pro-Action’s more active Member groups, having been Members with us for more than 3 years.  Fixation were recently crowned ‘Member of The Year’ at our annual Pro-Action awards ceremony in June 2018.

Laura Davitt, our lead correspondent with Fixation, received the accolade, having been nominated for showing tremendous dedication and passion towards her role as a Creative Director. Working tirelessly to raise the profile of her group, Laura continuously strives to find opportunities that encourage self-esteem, growth and confidence in young people.

Showcasing Talent

Fixation offers many young people, who would otherwise not have the opportunity to do so, access to positive stimulating projects in their local community.

These projects help to shine the spotlight on young people, providing occasions where they can showcase their talents regularly throughout the year. Laura is aware of how important it is for young people to develop life skills as they mature through the projects and offers volunteering roles where they can share their positive experiences with others.

'Being a Member of Pro-Action has been invaluable’

Laura is an asset to both Fixation and Pro-Action. On Behalf of Fixation, Laura regularly attends community meeting and networking events to explore opportunities for partnerships and projects. Her involvement with Pro-Action has been highly commended, having attended our October relaunch, Pro-Action Variety show and YAMA 2018 event. A group of young people from Fixation also delighted us with a dazzling performance at one of our awards evening.

Laura expressed her delight at being recognised by Pro-Action, whose support, she says, has helped shape Fixation.

She said: ‘Being a Member of Pro-Action has been invaluable. Having the Pro-Action team on hand to talk to, to go to for advice and guidance is very reassuring and always leaves me feeling so motivated.  I was absolutely gobsmacked when Fixation was nominated for the Member of the Year. It’s amazing to be recognised for the work we do. We try our best and with the help of Pro-Action, I know we will grow each year!’

As ever, Laura is looking ahead to seize the next best opportunity for her group.  She is currently working on funding project with us with us and we are excited to see how it progresses in the future.

Congratulations Fixation on your win!
