Young Carers are anyone under the age of 18 who provides, or intends to provide care for another person, taking on a role that is more usually done by an adult. Our young carers service aims to support young carers in a number of ways.
1. Whole family support, we visit families at home or school and listen to the impact of caring on the young person, working with the whole family to ensure that young carers have the same opportunities as their peers.
2. A voice for young carers, we run a young carers council working with decision makers to ensure that young carers have a say in services that affect them and their family.
3.Activities for young carers, skiing, crafts, residential breaks all allow young carers the chance to meet others in a similar situation and build strong supportive bonds.
4. Training for schools and other professionals, if you want to know more about young carers and how you can support them get in touch.

Hitchin Youth Trust is a registered charity whose aim is to support activities for young people up to the age of 26 who have lived within our area (detailed on the website) for at least 12 months. We recognise that one of the most formidable problems in establishing and maintaining clubs and associations for the benefit of young people is obtaining the finance. Through careful management of investments we are able to provide financial support each year to help individuals and youth organisations. We also provide space at our building in Walsworth Road for groups to meet, free of charge to qualifying clubs and associations.
